Innovative together with Renera

News

Renera AG (formerly Energie Zukunft Schweiz AG) supports players in the property sector in developing profitable strategies in the energy sector and implementing them efficiently and practically.

The company originally emerged from an alliance between Swiss energy supply companies and the WWF. Working in partnership, Renera develops new business models and services for the energy transition, among other things. For the SF Retail Properties Fund, the first step was to create an overview of the existing systems and functions, identify lucrative use cases, define the requirements for measurement and control concepts and clarify the initial situation. The portfolio-wide recording of measured values, standardised as far as possible, becomes the necessary basis for understanding the energy flows in the buildings. Transparency is necessary in order to guarantee reliable reporting. The data is also needed to simplify planning and billing processes.

The SF Retail Properties Fund is installing photovoltaic systems on selected properties in stages and is supplying the market with electricity in addition to its own on-site consumption. The commercial tenants or single tenants can purchase the solar power directly thanks to electricity supply contracts. Alternatively, the solar power can also be used for the general consumption of the retail property.

In order to ensure the ongoing, proper operation of the solar power system, the following services were transferred to Renera AG:

  • Operational monitoring: Ongoing monitoring of system production through remote monitoring and response in the event of significant deviations from expected yields or failure
  • Billing: Annual reporting of own consumption including the agreed electricity tariff for the administration as the basis for billing the tenant for solar power
  • Reporting: reporting of annual production, own consumption and feed-in

Various systems in Zwingen, Bioggio, Basel, Reiden, Thayngen, Flawil, Aigle, Regensdorf and Flums, among others, have already been put into operation. Around 2 000 MWh are produced annually, which could supply around 400 households with electricity.
